'Dale slide to home defeat v. Stirling County
Match ReportsThe visitors opted to bat first and Graeme Taylor and Matthew Tweedie laid the foundation for a good score by posting 78 for the 1st wicket when Taylor, much more the aggressor of the two, was dismissed by Hamid for 49. Tweedie anchored the innings to the 41st over when he fell to the same bowler for a patient and valuable 68. Runs continued to come at a steady rate, with Brandon McMullen (69) the main contributor in the latter part of the innings. County were all out for 303 in the final over and would be pleased to have posted a daunting total. Ihtisham took 3 for 63 from 10 overs, and Hamid was the most economical - 2 for 34 from 10.
The run chase needed a solid start but, sadly, it was not to be as the first 3 wickets fell for 43. When Sheryar was also out (28) and the total only 54 the task already looked beyond reach. However, Andrew and Zain tried to mend the damage by putting on 59 for the 5th wicket. Once Andrew was out for 22, Kasim (42) joined Zain (43) but the outcome had been obvious for some time and the innings eventually subsided for 198 in the 48th over. Thomas Jones had 3-31 from 7 overs, 2 wickets each for Ali and Shaw.
In spite of this result, we maintain second place in the WDCU Premier Division and next Saturday make the short journey to Shawholm to face Poloc.
